The Best New Year's Kitchen Sales

Serious Eats / Chloe Jeong

The holidays may be wrapping up, but there's still a reason to celebrate: The start of 2023 brings great New Year's sales! These major markdowns are worth checking out if you didn't quite get everything you wanted for the holidays, need to get a gift for an upcoming birthday or wedding, or are just getting a head start on your cooking resolutions.

We rounded up our favorite kitchen-related sales happening right now—most of which have won our equipment reviews.

Anova Precision Cooker

Normally $219, Now $169

Our favorite sous vide machine with an onboard display (for those who worry about WiFi signals cutting out and ruining dinner) is 23% off at the moment. We found it to be easy to use and accurate—essential for an immersion circulator. For those who want an app-compatible machine, it does that, too.

Anova Precision Sous Vide Vacuum Sealer

Normally $80, Now $65 at Amazon and Anova Culinary

Our compact vacuum sealer pick is easy to store and simple to use, as it just has three buttons. It comes with 10 pre-cut bags and has no refractory period (that’s the time in between sealings!).

Serious Eats / Taylor Murray

Anova Precision Vacuum Sealer Pro

Normally $150, Now $100 at Anova Culinary

This is our favorite overall vacuum sealer and for good reason: not only does it seal exceptionally well (for both dry and wet items), it has a host of great features. We think you'll appreciate its cord storage and bag storage and cutter. Like the smaller Anova, it has no refractory period.

Serious Eats / Taylor Murray

Instant Vortex Plus 6-Quart Air Fryer

Normally $160, Now $130

Our favorite air fryer is $30 off at the moment. After testing 11 models, the Instant came out on top for its speed, usability, and performance. It browned the quickest and most evenly out of all the air fryers we tested and we loved its control knob that allowed us to easily scale up and down the time and temperature. If you've been wanting an air fryer, why not get the best one at a great price?

Serious Eats / Riddley Gemperelin-Schirm

Vitamix 5200 Professional-Grade Blender

Normally $550, Now $389

Our all-time favorite Vitamix blender, the 5200, is marked down just in time for the new year. It's incredibly powerful, meaning it'll make quick work of everything from smoothies to purées. It's also not cheap, making this a great deal to take advantage of.

Serious Eats / Tamara Staples

Cuckoo Rice Cooker and Warmer

Normally $113, Now $90

With a number of cooking presents, an attractive exterior, great performance, and a range of customization, the Cuckoo is one of our favorite rice cookers (and we tested 11 of them). Right now, it's 20% off.

Nesco VS-12 Deluxe Vacuum Sealer

Normally $135, now $88

This vacuum sealer tied for first place in our tests, scoring high marks for its powerful suction, intuitive controls, and wide range of options. Whether you're looking to get into sous-vide cooking or just want to do more meal prep in the new year, this is a great tool to get you started.

Serious Eats / Taylor Murray

Yosukata Carbon Steel Wok Pan

Normally $70, Now $60

This heat-treated wok is our pre-seasoned pick. We found it to be heat responsive with a slick surface, and we liked its helper handle and wooden handle that stayed cool to the touch.

Serious Eats / Tim Chin

KitchenAid Full-Size Dish Rack

Normally $85, Now $68

Our favorite dish rack is super solidly constructed and fits a whole lot of dishes without nary a plate wobbling. Its side walls are tall and supportive and its mat can be removed for easy cleanup. A truly great dish rack is one of those little luxuries you didn't know you were missing until you have it.

Serious Eats / Madeline Muzzi

Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0

Normally $400, Now $225 at Solo Stove

We really, really liked this fairly smokeless fire pit from Solo Stove when we tested it (and the grill hub, which is also on sale) this past summer. It was easy to set up, burned very efficiently, and was a cinch to clean. And right now, it's $175 off.

Serious Eats / Grace Kelly

Coffee Gator French Press Coffee Maker

Normally $55, Now $47

Our affordable French press pick is nearly $20 off (just clip the coupon before adding it to your cart). It features a layered stainless steel body that keeps coffee hot for a long period of time and its dual filter does a good job at keeping grit and sludge out of your cup. Fun fact: the Coffee Gator is also one of our favorite cold brew makers.

Serious Eats / Ashley Rodriguez

Spinn Pro Coffee Maker

Normally $899, Now $749 at Seattle Coffee Gear

We were impressed by the Spinn Coffee Maker's ability to brew fully automated versions of espresso and cold brew instantly, and its version of drip coffee wasn't bad either. It uses a centrifugal brew chamber attached to a built-in grinder, allowing for the convenience of one-touch capsule brewing while being able to still choose your own favorite whole bean coffee. Its biggest downside is the price, and with this discount, it's worth taking a look at.

Hedley & Bennett Essential Apron

Normally $85, Now $72

This sturdy apron that sports a trio of pockets is currently on sale in the orange, Jalapeño color. There are also a variety of other aprons at discounted prices on the Hedley & Bennett website.

Ooni Koda 16

Normally $800, Now $600 at Ooni

When we reviewed Ooni ovens earlier this year, the Koda 16 impressed us with its performance and usability. It has an extra-large opening, so it can accommodate bigger pies, and a control panel and gas hook-up on the right side of the oven (most Oonis have this at the back)—an accessible placement.

Serious Eats / Stacy K. Allen

MIU Fish Spatula

Normally $30, Now $26

With a smooth, grippy handle and a more offset head, this fish spatula is a top-notch pick for flipping burgers and fish. In fact, it's one of our three favorite fish spatulas (and we tested 12 of them).

Serious Eats / Grace Kelly

ThermoWorks Thermapen ONE

Normally $99, Now $79

Our favorite instant-read thermometer is lightning-fast, incredibly accurate, packed with helpful usability features like an auto-rotating screen and auto-backlight, and 25% off (30% off if you buy two or more).

Serious Eats / Irvin Lin

Lodge 10.25-Inch Skillet

Normally $34, Now $20

After testing 22 cast iron skillets, this one from Lodge was the winner. It's durable, performs well, and is fairly inexpensive (even not on sale!). We think the 10.25-inch size works well for most people, but the larger 12-inch version is also on sale if you tend to cook for a crowd.

Wüsthof 8-Inch Classic Chef's Knife

Normally $226, Now $170

Now is a great time to splurge on our favorite Western-style chef's knife (and we tested 30!) because it's 25% off right now. Super sharp, sturdy, and handles well, the Wüsthof 8-Inch Classic Chef's Knife is worthy of the investment.

Breville Smart Grinder Pro

Normally $350, Now $196

For serious coffee geeks looking to invest in a quality burr grinder, we think this is a great option. It performed well in our tests (we tested 12 coffee grinders) and can even be used as an entry-level espresso grinder. It's not ideal for French press or cold brew because its grind trends finer than other options, but it's a high-end pick at a great price right now.

Vicky Wasik

SodaStream Aqua Fizz

Normally $160, Now $120

If you're looking to drink more water this year, and sparkling water is your preferred method of hydration, it's the perfect time to purchase our favorite soda maker with glass bottles. We tested nine different models, and the SodaStream Aqua Fizz won for its level of carbonation, ease of use, and the durable glass bottles that set it apart from most other models.
